清須にゆかりのある作家を紹介するシリーズの第2弾。
　鳥羽美花は、型染め技法を追及し、国際的に活躍する染色画家です。1994年、初めてベトナムを訪れて「新たな世界が拓ける」と確信して以来20年、失われゆくベトナムの風景をモチーフに制作してきました。その作風は、日本独自の型染めがもつ特質と、熱気を帯びたベトナムの気候が出会い、重なり合ったからこそ生まれたものだと言います。
　故郷・清須で開かれる本展は、ベトナムをモチーフにした代表作を一堂に展示する、鳥羽にとって国内最大規模の個展となります。三部作《辿りついた場所》は、今回日本初公開される作品で、ベトナムの歴史に名を刻むチャンパ王国・ミーソン遺跡を題材に、過去と現在、そして人類にとって普遍的な祈りが表現されています。鑑賞者は作品から作品へと歩を進めるにつれ、国境を超え時空を旅するように作品世界に分け入り、祈りの遺跡を巡ることができるでしょう。
　本展では、会期中一部の作品入れ替えを行います。前期は日本の桜をテーマにした作品を展示し、当館の窓辺から見える桜並木と呼応した空間を創ります。後期は新緑と恵みの雨の季節に合わせ、ベトナムの水辺や雨季の風景を展開します。この時期、この空間でしか味わえない風情をご堪能いただければ幸いです。
Toba Mika Exhibition : From The Eternal Place Beyond Time and Space
Second series of introducing artists affiliated to Kiyosu City.
Toba Mika is an internationally renowned dyeing artist utilizing Katazome, Japanese traditional dyeing method in her painting. In1994, she visited Vietnam for the first time, and was convinced that the door to the new art world would be opened before her, and has, for the last twenty years, produced a number of large Katazome paintings depicting Vietnamese disappearing sceneries. Her paintings are the product of having combined special characteristics of Katazome and the humid and heated climate of Vietnam.
The Exhibition at this Museum is one of the largest exhibitions she has held in Japan, and will exhibit her all major paintings of Vietnamese changing sceneries. Her new painting of three pieces of "Eternal place" that portrays Mỹ Sơn, The Remains Of The Kindom of Champa will be exhibited for the first time in Japan. It embodies the prayer of eternity for the human beings of the past, present and tomorrow. Viewers will stroll through the paintings, and will travel the heritages of prayer beyond time and space.
This exhibition will be consisted of two parts; the first will include paintings of Japanese cherry blossoms, and will create the space of spring matched by the cherry trees in front of the Museum. The latter half will present paintings of water and rainy season of Vietnam to match the green and rainy season.It is hoped that visitors will enjoy the special feelings available only at this time and space.
